Mărțișor is an old tradition celebrated all over Romania every year, on March 1st. The name Mărțișor is a diminutive of March (Martie in Romanian) but also the name of the little talismans with red and white strings, offered as gifts during this holiday. It is believed that people who wear the red and white string will enjoy a prosperous and healthy year.
